Physical Education and Sports Workshop for Students with Special Needs

“Physical Education and Sports Workshop for Students with Special Needs” will be organized online between May 25-27, 2021 by Istanbul Kent University in cooperation with the Unimpeded Education Foundation. The program will host invited speakers on the first two days and on the third day it will continue with seven different workshop groups in which problems and solutions will be discussed regarding the access of students with special needs to physical education and sports courses on the basis of the article 30 paragraph 5 of the“United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities.

Objective: The aim of the workshop is to support the full and effective participation of students with special needs in the physical education course by empowering physical education teachers, special education teachers and classroom teachers who work at all levels of education. At the same time, it is aimed to develop sustainable good models in schools with cooperation between professional staff working in the field, teachers/universities and Provincial Directorates of National Education.

At the end of the workshop, a report, which ensures full and effective participation of students with special needs in sport and physical education and can be considered a guideline, is scheduled to be issued and sent to universities, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Family and Social Policies to come up with effective policies in this area.
